Odessa International Airport

Odesa region, Ukraine
State: Finished

The project for the new runway at Odesa Airport included construction of a new apron, two taxiways, and a runway.

The runway is 2,800 m long, 45 m wide, with a 40 cm layer of heavy concrete.

For the first time in Ukraine, the unique Gomaco GP4 concrete paving complex was used (8 meters per pass without formwork). The load-bearing capacity of the runway almost doubled. The airport gained the ability to accommodate medium- and long-haul aircraft such as Boeing 737 and Airbus A320. Two taxiways and an apron in front of the new terminal were also constructed.

The works were carried out without stopping airport operations – a unique case in airfield construction. In July 2021, the third phase began – construction of a new main taxiway. Works were temporarily suspended after the start of the full-scale war.
